Dreamy, Elegant Key Largo Wedding at the Beach

Caroline and Ryan's Key Largo wedding photographed to perfection by Jessica Bordner Photography was all natural, organic celebration with a simple, beachy vibe. They were married at Hilton Key Largo Resort, one of their favorite vacation spots. The decor was simple and elegant, with the gorgeous backdrop of the Florida Keys setting the scene for their beach wedding.

"We are both easy going and that's what we wanted our wedding to be like. Just a really fun time and a chance for our families and friends to have a good time while celebrating with us. The sunset was perfect!" recalls Caroline. She looked breathtaking in a simple, striking sheath gown by Elizabeth Fimore with a plunging, open back and a beautifully braided updo.

Ryan and I met through mutual friends while I was attending school in Gainesville. We clicked instantly and had so much fun together. Ryan can always make me laugh more than anyone else. We dated for about 5 years and then Ryan proposed on a trip to visit Gainesville, where it all started.

My hair was styled in a soft, wavy updo with white orchids tucked in. I'm also pretty well-known for the braids that I wear in my hair on a daily basis, so I had to have a braid in there too! I'm all about simplicity but elegance, and I think wanted my dress to be just that. I knew I wanted it be beachy and have straps like a bathing suit! A princess-style gown was out of the question, so when I tried on a silky sheath Elizabeth Filmore gown with a leafy lace overlay, I was in love. I think it totally fit with the location and was so comfortable and light. I was a dancer for 18 years so I knew I needed a dress that I could dance in, and this dress was perfect!

I wanted a very natural-looking bouquet - all white florals with lots of greenery throughout for our Key Largo wedding. I included seeded eucalyptus and succulents., along with white hydrangeas and roses. Our bridesmaids wore floor-length navy chiffon gowns, that were all convertible so that each girl could still show her individual style and be comfortable. Our groomsmen wore gray suits, with navy ties to go with the bridesmaids. Succulent boutonnières tied in with my bouquet. Ryan wore a custom navy suit with a gray tie, the opposite of the groomsmen. He stood out from the groomsmen but still went well together with them, and also fit with the theme. We wanted the ceremony decorations for our Key Largo wedding to be simple and natural, as the backdrop was a gorgeous beach and trees encircling the altar. We decorated the altar with some natural linen and lined the aisle with baby's breath. I walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of "A Thousand Years" by the Piano Guys. The original song is one of Ryan's favorites, and we both love the cello in this version.

We really wanted our families to be as involved as possible. The wedding ceremony was sweet and simple, and officiated by my cousin. There was a reading by his Aunt, called "Union" by Robert Fulgham. Our photographer, Jessica was amazing through the whole process. She was very organized, and knew what she was doing to make the day go smoothly. It was awesome to know that photography was the one vendor I didn't have to worry about! The 2nd shooter even helped one of our groomsmen iron their shirt!

I hand-made the seating chart with a wooden frame, natural jute, and topped with eucalyptus. Our guest book was a framed picture of us from our engagement photos with a large matte for our guests to sign on. It now hangs in our bedroom.

The decor consisted of soft gray linen tablecloths, wooden chiavari chairs, a manzanita branch centerpiece, and small hydrangea vases with lots of candlelight. Wedding Planning Advice:

The biggest lesson I learned was to stay organized- my binder was my lifeline! Click To Tweet

Try to relax and remember that it's just one day: No matter what happens, you have a whole marriage and life to look forward to! Click To Tweet

Don't try on the dress that's way out of your budget, you will fall in love with it! Click To Tweet

We kept costs down by planning it all on our own and enlisting our wonderful friends and family to help on the day of. We saved a lot on florals by using the branch center pieces.
