Jessica and Darren's Wedding at Omni Amelia Island

Jessica and Darren's Wedding at Omni Amelia Island

Jessica and Darren's beautiful day at Omni Amelia Island capitalized on the gorgeous scenery with incredible florals and ceremony structures by Shea Hopely. The draping silk and greenery wreaths suspended from an old weeping oak tree sets an incredible stage for the lovely couple's intimate ceremony and the look is continued with organic tablescapes filled with white and green florals, raw woods and linens. Ashley Brooke Granstad, was the phtographer behind the lens capturing all the gorgeous details and we know you're going to love it!

What made the wedding special and unique?

I think the location, our photographers, and our amazing florist bringing together our specific vision made the wedding picture perfect and incredibly unique. What made it special was the intimate group of loved ones we had by our sides and the fact that all of them traveled, left their families and jobs to spend a weekend with us.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I tried on maybe 30 gowns from LA to FL to MA! I moved to Florida from LA last September and was in my mother's kitchen checking emails. One of the boutiques in LA where I had tried dresses on sent me an email with their new collection. And there it was. The model wearing it also had on a head piece and chunky shoes, very boho. I was in love with it all. Of course, they didn't have the dress anywhere in Florida so I flew up to Ceremony in Boston, where I am originally from, and made a day of it with girlfriends. I knew it was the one as soon as I saw it online and was even more in love with it once I put it on.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

We had quotes painted on wooden slats on each of the guests' tables. My florist also found these gorgeous wooden and glass paneled doors to set before the aisle for the ceremony; since it was outdoors it gave it a cozy feeling and created the perfect intimate setting to get married. We also wrote our own vows and had our best friend marry us, which was the greatest decision ever because she knew us so well.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

For me, walking down the aisle with my dad and then seeing my husband standing up there. The ceremony hands down was the most memorable and my favorite; everything about it. Not to mention the unbelievable scenery around us that nature provided. It was immensely peaceful and serene.

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

We were in our happy place-Vegas! It was Darren's 30th birthday celebration and we had met up with one of his best guy friends. He asked his friend to take a pic of us and little did I know it was on video. Darren got down on his knee and I screamed. I was completely taken off guard. But we have it all on video and that's the best part.
