On May 3, 2016, the glitterati descended upon Havana's emblematic Paseo del Prado. Integrating Cuban and French cultures, the decorated street served as a spectacular representation of merging lifestyles and epitomized the aesthetic of Chanel's Cruise 2017 Collection.

Show attendees sat on large benches and chairs lining the outdoor runway. Locals climbed to neighboring rooftops to catch a glimpse of the magic that would soon accompany the delightful, warm Havana atmosphere. Iconic and colorful '50s automobiles bordered the venue, paying homage to the undeniably vintage and classic feel of Cuba.

As dusk approached, twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Díaz started the show with their Latin jazz-style music echoing through the city. Models graced the runway in distinctly Chanel ensembles-fine-tailored jackets, layered tulle skirts, and pearl-embellished accessories.

The show evolved into an apparent and illustrious French-Cuban fusion, introducing vibrant shades of peach, light blue, yellow, and turquoise. A certain masculine femininity was present, reflective of today's androgynous trends. Nearly every look was complete with a Panama hat and belt, a reinterpretation of the guayabera -the traditional Cuban shirt with pockets, shoulder tabs, and flat pleats-or what Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld nicknamed the "Cuban tux."

Each piece on the runway embodied the laissez-faire attitude of Cruise while remaining elegant, rich, and everything we love about Chanel. The collection encompassed ready-to-wear pieces for every occasion-black and white structured separates, "debutante" mid-length dresses and skirts featuring tulle, sequins, and bold prints, and casual high-waisted shorts paired with tweed jackets and handbags.

Classic car motifs supplemented the vivid blue and red printed skirts, dresses, and tops. "Coco Cuba" graphic tee shirts were styled with the ever-anticipated tweed jackets and exuded an incredible level of cool-girl chic.

Accessories were plentiful but not overdone. Silver embroidery and accents made their way onto a majority of the pieces. Chanel camellias adorned black berets and silver chain belts and layers of pearl necklaces swung as the models walked the runway.

Crocheted backpacks, soft multicolor hobo-style handbags, and "cigar box" minaudieres on chains complemented the spirited collection and gave a nod to the show's Cuban theme.

Woven flip-flops, embellished slides, and two-tone oxford styles paced down the runway on the heels of undeniably enthusiastic models. Caged sandals paired with ankle socks were styled with ruffled sequin numbers, adding a cheeky touch to the youthful collection.

Chanel regulars Soo Joo Park, Stella Lucia, and Marjan Jonkman joined the delighted, easygoing group of models. Beauty looks were natural and incorporated gently tied-back hair, full brows, warm glowing highlights, and raspberry lips. The models appeared happy, comfortable, and carefree-everything we want Cruise to embrace.

Lagerfeld closed the show in his famous way-alongside godson Hudson Kroenig in his tailored black and white uniform-but this time the Creative Director's jacket was decorated with sequins, truly uniting him with the collection.

An upbeat band followed Lagerfeld down the runway and encouraged the audience to dance as they came to their feet. Models, fans, and locals celebrated into the evening at the Plaza de la Catedral in Havana Old Town.
