Simplicity ruled the runway at Narciso Rodriguez 's fall 2017 collection debut. Not that the designer dialed back his sophisticated styles any more than usual, but the looks were without embellishment. Instead, Rodriguez emphasized the silhouette and its movement through dramatic shapes and strategically placed cutouts. Fluidity in sleeves, hemlines and silk fabrications gave these muscular constructions an ease and rhythm.

Pared back beauty in simple rosy tones topped these strong designs with an ethereal face. No makeup artist can illuminate the complexion quite like Dick Page. For this show, the Shiseido artistic director created petal-like skin that was all the more delicate next to the contemporary, moody clothes.

The collection's bold architectural cohesiveness and palette inspired Page to veer towards monochromatic rose coloring, which was smoothly blended on eyes and cheeks as a soft complement to the skin.

1. The upper and lower lash lines were lined with a light rosy shade similar to the Shimmering Cream Eye Color in Pale Shell mixed with a copper hue, such as the Shimmering Cream Eye Shadow in Sunshower, and then buffed out for softened edges. Finally, the look was finished off with the Full Lash Multi-Dimension Mascara on the top lashes only.

2. The Eyebrow Styling Compact was used to lightly fill in the brows, enhancing the brow shape with a bold, yet natural look.

3. Dick applied the Synchro Skin Glow Luminizing Fluid Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF20 for a clean, even look that maintained the skin's natural glow.

4. Rouge Rouge in Rose Syrup and Curious Cassis (NEW for fall 2017) were lightly blended together for a deep, rosy finishing touch.

SHOP: Shiseido Get the nails:

"We are doing a very minimal look, as Narciso usually loves," says Deborah Lippmann backstage. "One of the things to do during the show week is to do a very beautiful clear nail because all of the girls have had their nails done so many times that their cuticles are ragged."

  1. "We use our cuticle remover and cuticle oil," says Lippmann. File and then buff into short, rounded nails.
  2. Then the Gel Lab base coat.
  3. Then apply the color Brand New Day, which is a very sheer beige. "I've used it at three shows this week-designers love it. Everything has been on the beige side instead of the pink side, which is interesting because usually there's a pretty good mix," says Lippmann.
  4. "And then we wait a couple minutes to let that dry. Then we put on a Flat Top, it's like a matte top coat so the nail almost goes away. It's a modern nude manicure," says Lippmann.
