It was the first day of our second year at Stellenbosch University. We were waiting outside the lecture hall with a group of friends. It was here, on the bench outside the Van Der Sterr Building, where a casual conversation about the December holidays and 'where home is' turned into the best friendship and our love for each other never stopped growing.

A common love our dads share, is a love for wine. Hence the perfect cover up, was for both our families to go wine tasting at Meerendal. My family (from Namibia) supposedly came to Cape Town to sort out some admin and a quick visit. Little did I know, they were all in on the secret. At Meerendal, we went for a walk and Kevin pretended to take a photo of me staring into the distance, when I turned around he was on his knee, ring in hand and the whole family waiting eagerly for my answer. Afterwards we were joined by our closest friends for a lovely celebration, accompanied by lots of wine of course.
