I’ve never promoted myself as a “wedding photojournalist” because more often than not, I somehow influence the photo in one way or another. A true “photojournalist” doesn’t use flash, doesn’t tell people where to stand/pose, doesn’t remove trash cans out of the background and doesn’t have any influence on the situation to get a photo. They don’t create, they capture. I’m not that guy. I would describe myself as a Wedding Photo Creationist. I capture the moment, but also do what is necessary in order to get the shot I envision. In fact, I don’t know anyone who does pure photojournalism, even though that’s a trendy topic brides like to throw around. My current favorite catch phrase/tagline: “I create the best possible candid shots” (that’s funny if you think about it long enough) This shot, however, with the exception of using flash, is about as purely candid as they come.
