We'd been warned and we knew better; all of the advice said to stay away from street food in India unless you wanted a case of the notorious 'Delhi belly'. Well, we were in Jaipur for a start (wishful thinking perhaps?) and nothing comes between this girl and a cup of chai. In an effort to get away from the crowds one afternoon, we turned onto a quiet back street and soon stumbled across a small shop surrounded with men all in line for their Sunday afternoon chai fix. The smell of fresh cloves, cinnamon and cardamom was simply divine and despite the known food hygiene risks; we ordered a cup to share (quite the steal at 10 rupees - about 13 cents). A gentleman immediately offered up his spot on the bench while we waited for our batch to brew. We got chatting with some of the customers who told us that this was the best tea stand (or as I prefer 'chai guy') in town. And we soon understood why! The tea was absolutely delicious and thankfully, without any chai-rrhea after effects
