"It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves." - Sir Edmund Hillary Without a doubt, trekking to Everest Base Camp six years ago was one of the most challenging feats of my life - physically, mentally and emotionally. I'd trained hard in the lead up but still wasn't quite prepared for what I would experience during those three weeks in the Nepalese Himalayas. The morning that our group trekked up to the top of Gokyo Ri at ‎5,357 m was one of the toughest. My lungs ached in the high altitude and my hands were so cold I couldn't feel them holding onto my trekking poles. I dragged one foot in front of the other, knowing that slowly but surely, I would make it to the top. When we finally summited the peak hours later, I stood there witnessing this incredible view - and I wept. I cried for how far I had come, for the immense pride I felt in that moment, for the beauty of the landscape that lay in front of me and possibly also for how much my frozen hands still felt like they might actually fall off. (Spoiler alert - they didn't). A mere two weeks after I took this photo, at yoga retreat in the hills of Pokhara, I met the man who would soon become love of my life; my ultimate travel partner and best friend. I truly believe that the adventures that require us to dig the deepest will eventually lead us to discover our true selves, and potentially even unearth our biggest blessings along the way
