4 years ago, something happened that changed the way that I shot. I began shooting with a rangefinder and a shit load of film. It forced me to slow down, which in turn led to me seeing things very differently. Today, my photography style and the way that I shoot are still a reflection of what I learned back then. This image is the perfect reminder of when things changed and it’s hanging in the studio for that very reason. Not only do I love this shot, but it was the one that made things click and realize the advantages to slowing my shooting process down. Rather than shooting the way I typically had done in the past, I watched the flow of the dress, how the light was hitting it, and positioned her body and hands to match.... then hit the shutter. Seeing this photo today made me realize how much this pandemic has caused me to slow down in life.
