Lifestyle blogger Emily Schuman-the mastermind behind the uber-popular blog cupcakes and cashmere -popped by the Nordstrom flagship in Seattle recently for a party to celebrate her new eponymous line. More than 150 devotees of her blog and the new collection-think breezy jumpsuits, sporty-chic parkas and motos, and wear-everywhere separates-came out to partake in the festivities.

It's hard to imagine a design team that doesn't intend to dress real girls-after all, it'd be hard to stay in business dressing imaginary ones-but London favorites, LVMH champs and SPACE mainstays Marques'Almeida really are about the women they know and love.

Among the exciting new-for-Spring brands at SPACE is the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund winner Brother Vellies. Designed by Aurora James and fabricated in collaboration with African artisans in developing communities, it's a line of supremely wearable shoes that you can feel supremely good about wearing.

Not that she needs any introduction, but the movie and TV star and newly-minted fashion designer Melissa McCarthy took time out of her crazy-busy schedule to stop by our flagship store in downtown Seattle last Friday, where she greeted customers and promoted her clothing collection, Melissa McCarthy Seven7.

Everyone and anyone in fashion right now will tell you that in terms of designers in their ascendancy, Simone Rocha is the one to know. Although, as we've written before, she actually does come from a venerated fashion family , spiritually and metaphorically it would seem that's she daughter of two of fashion's most legendary women: Coco Chanel and Rei Kawakubo.

As Andy Warhol once said, department stores are a lot like museums. And sometimes-like when you're shopping for Nordstrom Designer Preview -you want a tour guide. Yep, it's time for our yearly runway celebration, in which we gather the most amazing looks from brands such as Céline, Valentino, Lanvin and present them together in one gorgeous show.

It happened in Brooklyn, smack dab in the middle of the last New York Fashion Week : some of the best spring looks from SPACE designers, selected and styled to throw it all back to the teenage years, when we thought we knew everything-and we probably did.

We're big fans of letting experts be the experts, especially when it means asking for a few good recommendations when you're visiting someone else's town.
