Home Made Rustic & Laid Back Villagey Wedding - Whimsical...

via

We're starting the week on a high with the lovely nuptials of WWW readers Tiff and Josh who were married in March at Thrumpton Hall in Nottinghamshire. They live in the village and so the choice of Church and the venue was the perfect option.

They hoped to create a rustic and laid back atmosphere and home made many of the lovely touches. Tiff's mum made the gorgeous naked wedding cake, a friend arranged the pretty blooms at the reception and many of the décor items were borrowed. It made for a really homely and meaningful celebration.

Tiff donned the ethereal Adri by Katya Katya Shehurina, which looked nothing short of beautiful, with her hair loose and wavy with a pretty veil. Meanwhile Josh went for a tweed ASOS number with tan brogues while the bridesmaids looked effortlessly lovely in Coast dresses. Oh my.

Many many thanks today to the awesome Lee Garland for sharing these images. Enjoy folks.

THE PROPOSAL | New Years Eve eve in Paris. I took Josh there over New Year as his Christmas present, so I literally had no idea he was going to propose! My older sister Tash and her now husband Ben joined us on New Years Eve too - double celebrations!

THE VISION | Rustic, laid back and villagey! With lots of personal touches in between.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Planning was so much fun. I would say we had a joint input to making decisions and agreed on most things which was helpful! Josh had brought me a wedding planner book and we had a very thorough spread sheet (thanks to Josh) so we would note all of our ideas and purchases.

BUDGET | We tried to save money where we could, to justify spending more on things we really wanted. We made most things ourselves - table plan, invites, wedding signs, which definitely helped.

THE VENUE | All Saints Church, Thrumpton and to Thrumpton Hall for the reception. We live in Thrumpton, and love the village so it was so special for us to be married there too.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress and veil was from an amazing designer Katya Katya Shehurina. My wedding shoes from Dune were a birthday present from Josh's parents, and jewellery was a mix - grandmas wedding ring, my own earrings, silver bracelet (for being a bridesmaid at my sisters wedding), and a new bracelet which was my wedding present from Josh.

FINDING THE DRESS | I was getting frustrated, as I knew what I wanted but could not find the dress! A friend had recommended Katya Katya Sheuhrina and I fell in love with the 'Adri' dress and veil. I went to try it on at the gorgeous little boutique store in Regent Street, London with my sister and fell in LOVE. I was so happy!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Tweed suit and waistcoat from ASOS, finished off with tan leather brogues. He did have a lot of compliments!

THE READINGS & MUSIC | My mum and best friend Tilly read at the Church. We had a brilliant guitarist, Andy Thompson, play acoustic at the Church and also back at the hall during the welcome drinks.

For the evening, we had a band - Mulder & Co. They were absolutely brilliant and got the guests dancing all night!

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My older sister Tash, and little sister Tara, the dresses were from Coast.

THE FLOWERS | Bouquets and buttons holes by Eve Lily.

Flowers in the church and marquee were arranged by our dear friend and fellow villager Lulu. She actually took me flower shopping at 5am the day before the wedding to choose what we wanted, then spent the whole day cutting and arranging the flowers for the jam jars - florist in the making!

THE CAKE | The 'naked' cake was made by my Mum! She's definitely more of a sewer (great news for the cake bunting) than a baker, but when I explained 'the messier the cake looked the better' and sent her the picture I saw from pinterest - she rose to the challenge and did a great job. The sponge was even made by the eggs from our chickens!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | We chose Lee Garland for our wedding photographer. We became friends with Lee and Anna when we first moved to Thrumpton, and soon developed a bit of an obsession with his incredible wedding pictures. So, when we were choosing a photographer for our own wedding, it was not an option to have anyone else but Lee, and we were thrilled they could both be part of our special day too.

The photos are amazing and we are both SO happy, I think I've looked at them at least 20 times through!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We wanted a rustic style to our wedding particularly for the rural location we were in. Bunting, tea lights, chalk boards and jam jars were a must! A lot of the décor was home made, or borrowed which made it even more special. Even the wine boxes we used for the cards were inherited by us from RAF Pilot Sid who brought wine back from Portugal in the 50's!

THE HONEYMOON | 11 days in Mauritius, although we could have stayed forever...

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Josh turning around to watch me walk down the aisle.

The arrival of our very excited Labrador Bo for some photos (it was also his 3 rd birthday).

Josh having to carry me over the cattle grid to get into the fields for photos.

The delicious beef main course.

Dancing with our friends and family all night!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Try and not leave things until the last minute, time does fly especially the closer you get to the big day. Keep all of your ideas a secret; it makes the day that little bit more special for you and the guests!
