Wedding Trends: Go Big or Go Small

Wedding Trends: Go Big or Go Small

via

Wedding trends change as season come and go. No longer is there a standard outline of what a wedding should look like. Brides are changing course because they want to be special on their wedding day. These aren’t wedding tales drafted to look like what your mother did or her mother did. Wedding Trends are increasing and decreasing in a number of categories due to interest and lack thereof. Today we highlight wedding trends we have seen in the wedding industry that may answer many questions you have should you find yourself as the guest at a wedding. Go Big: The Wedding Party

Large wedding party at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Arizona

Wedding parties are at an increase this season with a wedding party ranging from 9 to 11 couples. There is everything from bridesmaids to now including junior bridesmaids to the party. Couples have now started to include honorary attendants. Grandmothers, grandfathers and other relatives are now being incorporated into the mix. For whatever reason there is, the wedding party is expanding which leads us to our next topic- wedding budget. The Wedding Budget Wedding tends in 2012 included bigger budgets. CNN reports that the cost per guests for wedding extras increased from $10 to $204. TheKnot.com reports that couples in 2012 have spent on average $28,427. This is the highest since 2008. With the quest to have unique and diverse weddings, the costs to obtain such individuality comes at a steep price. Go Small: The Wedding Cake

As much as we would think a wedding trends would include large over the top wedding cakes, that’s not so. More couples are wanting a smaller cake that focuses on the details than a multi-tiered cake. When you look at the reception, guests are surrounded by desserts well before the cake cutting ceremony arrives. Mini-ice cream stations, pie bars, candy stations, cake pops and cupcakes are all competitors. For our own clients, a percentage of guests that attend the ceremony may not attend the reception. The Reception A trend we are seeing is couples wanting their receptions at restaurants. Our September bride has opted to use a gorgeous golf course’s restaurant to host their reception. As much as receptions can look beautiful with decor, couples are turning receptions into after parties. Buffet style food with open bar seems to be the route of choice. Using this wedding trend decreases the amount of your budget and allows you to worry less about the details of your reception. The Guest Book When you think about wedding trends back then you can see why this was a hit. Technology has improved and Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest are your modern day record keepers of who attended your events. Facebook alone allows your guests to tag you in photos of them at your event with amazing messages. So no need to wait in a long line just to sign your name in a book.
