A Stylish Fall Wedding in Edmonton

Jennifer and Randy may have to thank Randy’s family for their rather indirect involvement in their union. The couple first met at Randy’s mother’s birthday party and eventually crossed paths again seven years later at Randy’s brother’s wedding. It was there where the two had finally taken notice of each other. “We started talking and at the end of the night he asked me to dance,” recalls Jennifer. “After the wedding we started talking on the phone for hours every night since Randy was living in Calgary at the time.”

Randy popped the question on what Jennifer thought would be quiet Saturday night in. When Randy came downstairs dressed in a suit, Jennifer admits she didn’t think anything of it as they had planned on attending a wedding the next day. “I told him he looked good and the next thing I knew he put on the song we first danced to and asked me to dance,” says Jennifer. “Then he said he had a question to ask me and as soon as he said those words I started crying because I knew. The next moments are a blur of tears, him pulling out the ring, getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him.”

The two decided on a fall wedding in October, with the ceremony being held at Edmonton’s Annunciation Catholic Church. The couple opted for a colour scheme rich in vibrant purple and gold for their reception at Edmonton Petroleum Club. Reflecting on the day, Jennifer says it’s challenging to choose a single standout moment, but she loved seeing all of their guests having a good time. “As much as our wedding day was about Randy and I, it was really important to us to have our closest friends and family celebrate our marriage with us,” says Jennifer. Randy admits his favourite moment occurred at the very end of their reception as the music stopped and all the lights turned on. “I remember Jenn and I sitting together at the head table while everyone was tearing down the room and thinking to myself that all the hard work we had we had put in over the past year was all worth it,” he explains. “I remember feeling like I was on top of the world and was so happy to have shared it with all the people we love, and to have done it with the one person I love the most.”
