You know we're big fans of wedding pretty here at b.loved HQ, so when we get to share gorgeous products to make your wedding extra-special, along with gorgeous images from talented wedding pro's it makes us very happy indeed! Today I'm excited to introduce you to The Wedding Garter Co, a brand new venture from the talented team behind luxury accessories brand, Britten. Their beautiful collection of garters, designed and made in the UK and made from the softest silks, delicate lace and adorned with crystals, pearls and opals. Hidden away for only you and your love to see, the garter is a sweet, seductive and a little bit sexy addition to your wedding day outfit. The Wedding Garter Co launched their exclusive new collection with a beautiful shoot coordinated & photographed by Gooch & Gawler, effortlessly stylish and oh so dreamy.

I interviewed co-founder Sarah-Jane Bates to find out more.

I attended Cordwainers College in London whose roots as a school of leatherworking go back to 1887. I trained to make handbags and other accessories before going to work in the couture shoe market. Switching into the bridal industry was largely because it is so much fun, brides are very happy and delightful to deal with.

We started Britten in late 2011 and The Wedding Garter Co grew from there. We have sold garters before under the Britten name but decided they needed our sole focus. They are hidden, a little risqué and deserved a great deal more attention than they were getting!

I am inspired by everything around me, sometimes I can be taking my crazy dog for a walk and notice the way the light catches a particular leaf! I have to get my camera out and snap away. and The Wedding Garter Co are all about hand crafted luxury, incredible detailing, glamour, timeless elegance and sheer romance.

Trends and the wedding industry are tricky! As a 'once in a lifetime' purchase you don't want to be so 'on-trend' that your look will date quickly but you have to balance that against the natural evolution of fashion. We at Britten as a whole, and with The Wedding Garter Co especially, try and solve this by keeping an eye on the bigger trends like colour palettes and then mixing this with more classical styling. We want every garter we sell to be passed on to the next generation or two, it's lovely to think of our products as future family heirlooms. The Wedding Garter Co, and Britten, are unique because every garter is made by hand in England. This means every stitch, every pressed silk flower and every tiny seed bead. We don't buy embellishments from overseas and then assemble them into garters. We cut every piece of silk ourselves and attach every single bead by hand in our own exclusive designs. It's very rare and something we are very proud of, true craftsmanship retained in Britain. My favourite wedding moment is the moment you first see the person you are going to marry. I will never forget this moment at my own wedding - it was very special to share it with the people you love most in the world. The best part of designing garters is just knowing you have contributed something genuinely special to a couples day - the 'first look' on one of our garters is probably a very different moment though!

Our challenge at The Wedding Garter Co and Britten is to stop and think every now and again! We are sending out so many orders all over the world that it's easy to think about nothing but postage rates and packaging - you have to look upwards and outwards every now and again to know where you are going. We have been overwhelmed by the response to Britten since it's launch in 2011 and the diversification into The Wedding Garter Co this year - we are very excited for where the future is going to take us!
