Floral Filled Elegant Spring London Wedding

Floral Filled Elegant Spring London Wedding

via

Flowers are just one of my favourite elements of a wedding and this wedding is filled with them.

WWW readers Nicola and Matthew married on the 19 April 2014 hosting their reception at the Garden Museum, London. They wanted an elegant and relaxed wedding which was inspired by the botanical location.

There were pressed flowers in the table plan, edible flower lolly favours and super beautiful bouquets of Peonies and Spring blooms.

I just adore Nicola's stunning Claire Pettibone 'Sky Between Branches' gown which she wore with her hair loose and wavy. The bridesmaids looked super gorgeous in shades of blue, while Matthew went for a Charcoal Hugo Boss suit. Oh so stylish.

Thanks so very much to the supremely talented Georgi Mabee for sharing her imagery today.

THE PROPOSAL | Ice Skating, Lake Louise, Canada 27 December 2012, he skated on one knee at twilight and I said yes!

THE VISION | Drawing from the inspiration of the reception, The Garden Museum London, we hoped to create a botanically inspired over-arching theme with a relaxed but elegant feel.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We started with the venue and wanted somewhere in London as Matt's family would be flying over from Canada and we wanted somewhere central and easy to get to. We gave our selves plenty of time to save up and book vendors in advance and left the details to materialise over the year ahead.

THE VENUE | Ceremony: Marriott Country Hall, London. Reception: The Garden Museum, London.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Designer Claire Pettibone name of dress: 'Sky Between Branches', simple diamond 1920's style diamond studs in a flower form. A simple sheer veil worn during the ceremony.

FINDING THE DRESS | My mother and I visited Elle Sanderson in Beaconsfield as they stocked Claire Pettibone dresses. I loved the relaxed fit of this designers dresses and the beautiful botanical details and interesting cuts and eventually decided upon the one I chose.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Charcoal Hugo Boss three piece Suite with mint green skinny tie.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Entrance of the Bride: somewhere over the rainbow by IZ. Reading 1: A Birthday by Christina Rossetti. Reading 2: Excerpt from "A Song for Hiawatha".

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Each wore different high street dresses in a spectrum of sky blue and mint green with nude coloured shoes.

THE FLOWERS | Jam Jar Flowers, London. We wanted the flowers to be blousy, wild colourful and with hints of light blue flowers. Using the inspiration from my dress my bouquet incorporated a large white lily and open and closed peonies. We were incredibly lucky that the garden museum had a temporary exhibition of wild and exotic flowers which were hung from the ceiling creating a wild flower meadow above the guests heads, it was stunning.

THE CAKE | M&S bought with ceramic embracing polar bears and cascading flowers down the tiers.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Georgi Mabee, beautiful documentary style photographs.

THE DETAILS & DECOR | Table Plan: wild pressed flowers. Favours: clear lightly coloured lollies with edible pressed flowers inside resting in a miniature milk bottle filled with mini eggs (it was Easter weekend). Centre Pieces: a large Pickle Jar of Wild Flowers on top of a mirrored disc.

THE HONEYMOON | Three Weeks in Sri Lanka, beaches, elephants, curry, rainforests, tea plantation...heaven!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The fire alarms were set off due to the ovens in the venue, when the fire brigade were called during the main course I thought the only way of rectifying the situation was to have my photo taken with the Firemen. It made for a fantastic photo opportunity.

When my dad and I met in the hotel room before we walked down the aisle Big Ben chimed that it was four o'clock which was a wonderful reminder that we needed to make our way to the ceremony.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Write your speeches well before the day, we didn't do this and wished we had.
