Ross and Katie, I just LOVE your wedding. All kitsch, cute and colourful, set in gorgeous Brighton.

WWW readers Ross and Katie tied the knot on Saturday 9 ^th May 2015. With a vision of "Brighton Rocks" they went all out, with a 1950s theme and quirky colour scheme. They DIYed much of the fun décor themselves and their reception space was totally transformed. Oh and how much do I love the blooms?

Katie donned a polka dot tea length dress with heart heels and Ross chose a blue suit with colour pop red tie. Not to mention that their sweet baby daughter looked adorable, such a happy family affair.

THE PROPOSAL | Ross got down on one knee in front of four of our friends in a pod on the Brighton Wheel, before a meal out for his birthday. I was not expecting it, I was in such shock I was a bit hysterical! It was a really lovely moment.

THE VISION | The theme of our wedding was 'Brighton Rocks', meaning vintage seaside. We both live in Brighton and love our city so wanted it to be a celebration of how great it is here! We wanted our guests to sample the Brighton experience throughout the day. The colour scheme red, white and blue with polka dots, we used lots of 'kiss me quick' 1950s style iconography to try to reflect the theme.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | I was lucky enough to be off work on maternity leave when Ross proposed, so I had plenty of time to plan everything and keep organised. The whole process took 6 months and I found it really fun. I think it would have been a lot more stressful had I been at work! We started with the big things and I kept lists of everything that needed to be done, adding to it as I got more into it.

BUDGET | After the birth of our daughter we really wanted to get married but didn't want to spend fortunes on the wedding, as we are still saving to buy a house. I really wanted to do it all for 5k, but in the end the total cost was 7k!

THE VENUE | After getting married in Brighton Town Hall, we walked all of our wedding party down to a beach bar called OhSo for drinks and canapés. Our reception venue had no outside space and we wanted to spend an hour or so on the beach, so everyone could spend some time outside and it also gave us the opportunity to get some lovely seaside shots. After this we walked everyone down to our reception, a live music venue called Latest Music Bar. This place was perfect for us as unlike a hotel it has a more laid-back, party vibe. We wanted the whole day to be lots of fun and wanted everyone to feel relaxed. We didn't want anything to feel too formal or traditional, which is what we got from this venue. The food was really good, the staff were so lovely throughout the whole process and overall it was really great value for money.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was a 50s style tea length dress with light blue sash and polka dot tulle on the top half. My shoes were red and blue Vivienne Westwood love heart Melissa.

FINDING THE DRESS | As soon as I started researching I realised that I wanted a short 1950s style dress. The two designers I love are House of Mooshki and Candy Anthony, but they were both way out of the budget. I ended up finding an on line bridal shop that specialises in short wedding dresses called Inspirational bridal. The dress was 1/ 6 ^th of the price of the designer ones. Undoubtedly the quality was not as good, but it only had to last one day! Overall I was really happy with it and feel that I got a very similar look for way less.

The DJ is called Les Jeal. The Band are called Sound House. The first dance song was Al Green - Lets stay together.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My bridesmaids were my best friend Laura and my sister Natalie. My daughter Faith was a flower girl. Bridesmaid dresses were deep red 1950s style from Lindybop, with light blue petticoats under. My daughter's dress and bolero were from M&S.

THE FLOWERS | The amazing Kate Langdale Florist of 7 Dials Brighton. I know absolutely nothing about flowers, I just told her that I wanted lots of different shades of red, white and blue (so not to look too union jack), and for them to have a natural/wild feel, with no roses. And she did such an amazing job, she made the most beautiful bouquets and arrangements for the venue that were fantastic value for money.

THE CAKE | The venue caterers for the Latest Music Bar made the three tier, three flavour naked wedding cake and my mum and I also made cupcakes the day before.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | The theme was vintage Brighton. The invitation and guest book style were based on the front cover of the puffin novel Brighton Rock - Graeme Green. For the place names I wrote on pebbles, favours were sticks of rock, the tables in the table plan were all named after Brighton landmarks, with the use of postcards for the table plan and cards box. The centre pieces were buckets containing vintage seaside/ Brighton style postcards and pinwheels, polka dot table runners were made from material cut up. We also had lots of jam jars, bottles and teapots containing flowers, everything in red, white and blue theme. And of course, what every DIY wedding should have; a sweetie table, lots of bunting and ornaments from home!

THE HONEYMOON | Mini-moon in Seville.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Walking all of our wedding party through the lanes down to the beach bar, after the ceremony was really good fun. Being blown about on the beach trying to have our photos taken was a really funny moment.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | I would say firstly do loads of research and have fun drawing inspiration from blogs etc. Get a really clear of idea of your theme and the type of location you want before you buy or book anything, so you don't end up regretting any decisions!
