Woodland Wonderland Table Decor

Woodland Wonderland Table Decor

Perhaps no table trend is quite so showstopping this autumn as woodland-inspired tablescapes. An often dramatically rustic look, full of lush plants, vibrant earth tones, and soft lighting, this table decor trend is perfect for fall color palettes. We've collected several gorgeous "woodland wonderland" tables, some elegant and refined, others whimsical and lighthearted.

Above, this deep plum table is a sophisticated way to start us off. While it is demure in scale, the details are spot on, featuring monogrammed twigs topping off the place setting and driftwood and faux-antlers completing the look.

The most popular detail in this trend has to be moss. A budget-friendly way to cover a large table, you can use a lot (above), lining an entire table with it and then filling in layers with pumpkins, jars, and candles. Or you can use just a touch. This table below uses moss as a clever substitute for a table runner.

If you love overflowing greenery, but don't want such a big statement on all of your tables, try it out on your cake or buffet table. Cake plates and serving platters on crates will keep the plants out of the food, and also make a gorgeous and unique style statement.

Another option that will mimic the feel of woodland tablescapes without covering your table is to use hanging installations of branches, creating a forest oasis in your reception venue (below).

Woodland tablescapes look that much more magical when paired with candlelight. We love the look of golden or bronzed votives against all the greenery to create an earth-toned glow.

Bring the forest indoors with woodcut details. Although you usually see woodcuts serving as platters for cheeses or cakes, these two ideas are a little more innovative. You can also use taller, skinnier versions to elevate votive candles (above, left) or wide woodcuts as plate chargers to make a place setting that much more rustic chic.

You can also use this theme with your favors, bringing little bits of woodland charm home with your guests. Above, mini terrariums add to the mossy, floral centerpieces. Below, these animal figurines have been coated in metallic paint giving your woodland wonderland a dose of gold glam.

But not everything woodland wonderland has to look straight out of the Northwest. Use native plants from your own region to create your own nature indoors. Above, this terrarium filled with succulents, feathers, and strikingly orange blooms is perfect for the Southwest. Or abandon reality altogether and create your most whimsical version of woodsy as with this playfully oversized garden below.
