Cara The Bride:

My dress came from Debenhams and I had tule and the bow on the back added to the bottom by seamstress Sahra Vass. I did this because I felt like my dress wasn't 'weddingy' enough, so I wanted to add material to 'poof' it out a little and make it a bit more like a wedding dress, I also realised I really wanted a train after I bought the dress so Sahra also added that. I bought my bracelet from Accessorize. It had a little Infinity symbol on it which was symbolic to our marriage. My headpiece/flower crown came from Etsy. I bought the headpiece because I really wanted a gypsophila flower crown and all our flowers featured gypsophila so it connected well. My shoes came from New Look (now not on the website but these are similar:). I chose these shoes because they are quite elegant and dainty. Ellie Laverty, a fantastic hair stylist who happens to be a friend did my hair and make up. I really wanted someone I knew doing my hair and make up because to me its more personal. One of my bridesmaids, Lydia Gander, offered to do my bouquet. She's studying florestry so I wanted her to have an opportunity to make a brides bouquet. I wanted a more 'messy' bouquet - like its just been thrown together with bits sticking out because to me thats more me. I wanted hints of maroon in my bouquet because that makes it stand out from my white dress and links to the bridesmaids dresses.

Joel The Groom:When Cara and I were planning the wedding, I knew that it was important to save money where we could and so I put together my own outfit. Imagine David Tennant's Doctor Who and you'd not be too far wrong with my look. I always knew that I wanted to wear black skinny jeans rather than a traditional suit trouser, I got these from New Look, as did I get the white shirt. I chose a softer cotton with a small collar to compliment a maroon bow tie with white polka dots. I chose a black waistcoat and a pair of brown leather brogues from River Island but the real steal was my jacket. I wanted a tweed like slim fit jacket that was light enough to keep on even in warm weather. Having started in the wedding boutiques which felt too 'top 'n' tail' for our country fair theme and very un-me, then Next and the likes of Urban Outfitters to Topman, all of the above "not stocking tweed or herringbone at this time". Feeling rather dejected I stopped at Asda to buy some lunch and there it was, the perfect style, light in weight and only £20. Last one in store but only in XL and so I asked local tailor Jackie Collier to take it in. She described the quality of the jacket of one of the best of its kind and so there's a lesson to learn there - it's worth looking in some of these supermarket stores as there are these hidden gems. It's worth mentioning that I can remember hearing 'I really love your jacket' as many times as the dress.

Joel & Cara:The venue was a very important decision for us, as soon as we'd drafted up a list of 200 names who just 'had to be there', we knew the venue would need to be sizable. There was not a shortlist, it was always Fitzleroi barn. With the country feel in mind, set upon the rural landscape of Fittleworth and the potential to turn the gorgeous farmyard court into a small village festival and the interior decor that of a vintage stone, with wooden beams, it was a no brainer. We budgeted for this to be our big spend, and even though it is hired at a hefty price tag, it went a long way to set the relaxed tone of the day.

Cara: Joel is a professional musician and uses the colour maroon in much of his branding as an artist and so we felt that it was important to reflect that in our color scheme; we sat it on a mixture of creams and greys.

One of our bridesmaids, Lydia Gander is a fantastic flower arranger and so we asked her to put together the bouquets and table centre's. Cara had secretly organised that the flowers would match the lacy dress and gypsophila in her hair - I had no idea! Cara just kept telling me we were having flowers that were "fun". I bought that as a viable reason, men huh? Cara's bouquet matched the bridesmaids dresses made up of The table centres were a simple country affair decoratively speaking; we had a small gypsophilia bouquet in jars but we also did something else...Joel and I both love games. We play a lot of card games together, as well as board games with friends. We decided that it would be a fun idea to have mini games on the tables for guests to play. We went out and bought a bulk load of card packs, mini jengas, little boxes of love themed quiz questions, bubbles and everyones favorite - play doh! This is where the inspiration for the outdoor games came from (see below).

Once we had decided on the color scheme, we started the hunt for matching bow ties and bridesmaids dresses; our wedding party consisted of 16 - 7 bridesmaids, a best gang of 4, and 10 ushers. We felt that the party for us was representative of those people who had truly supported our relationship and so we wanted to honor so many people! That made choosing outfits that were stylish yet thrifty as we invited the party to shop for themselves. We found floral textured dresses in a plum maroon by Dorothy Perkins and we built the look from there.

Both: We both attend St Peter's Church in Brighton and we knew on the day of the our engagement that we wanted to wed there. The huge building is a pinnacle in the Brighton skyline and inside it's an even nicer setting. The vicar Archie Coates has supported us throughout our engagement and we even took part in the church marriage prep course which has really helped us prepare for this first stage of our marriage and house move! One thing that we particularly wanted to stand out for was our order of service. We wanted every aspect of our wedding to be reflective of who we are as a couple and felt this was an opportunity to do something very different. We sat up one night and wrote the wedding service as a story, written in past tense, including instructions for the congregation. We felt it was important to highlight the moment that Cara processed as a moment that all the church will take out their phones to take pictures, although with it being a Saturday, the truth is that the men will often just be checking the football scores. We approached my cousin, Sam Hubbard to bring the order of service to life which he did, in keeping with the theme and following on from his invite design.

Cara's entrance was to Coldplay 'Life in Technicolour' and one of my ushers led the "hymns" which were actually contemporary Christian songs written by the likes of Martin Smith, Matt Redman and Hillsong. We wanted to make it easy for those who may not share our faith and show that it doesn't always have to be organ-led renditions of Abide With Me. 'Grow Old With Me' by Tom Odell was sang by one of my (Joel) ex-students, Anna Osborne and then Pete Lambrou from Monsters Build Mean Robots sang one of Joel's songs ' That Someone Who '. There was a reading from Colossians and an address by my cousin, Joe Gisbey.

Joel: We exited the church to a mash-up of the two songs, '99 Problems' (but the b**ch ain't one) (because she isn't!!) and 'I'm a Believer' (just because it couldn't ALL be tongue in cheek!)

Cara tracked down some old vintage styled games like Shove Ha'penny and Devil Among Tailors from my workplace and we set them up outside. These went down so well at the wedding. It meant that guests could spend time outside playing games in the sun. The children loved these games too. We got so excited about the whole games idea that we also booked a close up magician Des King. This went down a treat, and he was even used to produce a trumpet from within Joel's suit during the speeches!

We are a musician and a photographer and so another tiny piece of us that was one of our personal highlights was the naming of the tables, and the displaying of their names. Following on from the festival theme, we decided that the tables would represent would-be performing bands. We displayed each band's table with a picture of the band having photoshopped one member out and adding one of that table's guests. We kept this completely secret which meant it became a hilarious talking point. Considering the above, we decided on a hashtag that represented us both - #pianoandpolaroids. We invited the guests to photograph their own story of the day and upload them to Facebook and Instagram.
Following our first dance - 'A Real Hero' from the film Drive, we had some of the band that play with Joel on a regular basis, play classic party songs from 50's all the way through to modern day. Lastly, we bought sparklers for everyone to enjoy as we left the reception in the mini in which Cara arrived so that the guests could light the way for us.

Cara: We found the most fantastic pizza company to provide an all you can eat pizza buffet for our main at the wedding breakfast including our favourites - Classic Pepperoni and Posh Hawaiian . Cara and I always thought it would be original to do such a thing and these guys were the best! They set up their own mobile ovens and provided wood fired pizza for all 135 guests with spare left over - one guest managed 35 slices! Following that we had homemade ice cream made by whacky gelato specialist, Vicki Race. Guests could choose from Reeses Cups, Skittles, Cookies & Cream, Mint Areo Bubbles, Creme Egg, Lemon Sorbet and Raspberry Sorbet. It's safe to say the food was calorific, but it was incredible. In the evening, the bridesmaids organised a team of "Great British Bakers" to provide a cake stall alongside sausage sandwiches for evening guests. We wanted to continue in the fete theme.

Both:Our cake was designed and made by Carina Jowett, a family friend. Cara and I initially disagreed on what our cake would be like and Carina helped us compromise with this option - the bottom layer was a fresh cream victoria sponge, the middle, a chocolate cake covered in fudge icing, and the top, a buttercream filled victoria all decorated in bunting and fresh berries in keeping with the colour scheme somewhat.

Our amazing photographers were NAVYBLUR!!! The photo's speak for themselves, right? Ian Coulson spent the day with us, filming every little detail. He went to Cara's from Brighton, and sent another cameraman to Joel to film everyone getting ready. He took almost 500GB of footage and i'm sure you'll agree the video depicts the day very well.
