5 Subtle Ways To Incorporate Glitter Into Your Bridal Make-Up

Glitter within make-up at festivals come hand in hand but how do you transfer this festival look into your wedding make-up without overpowering the rest of your bridal look?

Fine art wedding photographer Solen Collet (whose photography is amazing by the way #justsaying) and Make-Up Artist Cori Burnett (whose make-up is amazing by the way #justsaying) got together to produce a shoot that does just that. 5 different ways of subtly incorporating glitter and sequins into your bridal make-up.

Think sparkling lips, shimmering eyes and muted bright sequins.

Cori talks us through each look and the products that were used so you can easily recreate this make-up style for your wedding day.

My favourite is Look 1 - well it had to be didn't it!? Got to love those sequined eyes!

This fun and colourful look will leave you feeling like a space age Festival Bride.

Start by applying a primer to clean and moisturise the skin. Then use MAC face and body foundation to create fresh and natural skin all over before blending in a small amount of a radiant and creamier foundation, like MAC studio sculpt foundation in the T-Zone or areas that need a little more coverage. Use a concealer to cover any blemishes or dark circles under the eyes. Sweep a turquoise blue eye shadow all over your eye lid, then on the outer half of your lid blend in a plumb shade. For extra definition sweep a little of the plumb underneath your lower lashes.
Using a fluffy eye shadow brush gently sweep a little bit of bronzer into your eye socket to contour your eye.
Carefully dab atiny amount of eyelash glue in the centre of your eyelid, being careful not to get it in your socket line and then using either your finger or an eyeshadow brush gently dab on some glitter in a colour of your choice over the glue.
Use an eyebrow pencil to softly shape and fill in any gaps in your brows. Make sure you keep the brows looking natural! Then sweep on some brow gel to set.
Gentlysweep a matte bronzer, 2 shades darker than your skin tone, from the top of your ears under your cheek bone. Use small circular motions to avoid an unnatural or stripey
Using your fingers dab a crème blusher on to the apples of your cheek and gently blend it up along yourcheek bone towards your ear.
Dab some eyelash glue onto your sequins and then using tweezers place them on your cheeks and bring some up on to your temples.
Add a golden pink wash of colour on your lips.I mixed a pink and pearly gold lip liner together then added a nude lipstick on top.
Finish with asweep of mascara and a set of your favourite false eye lashes. If your skin tends to get a bit shiny gently sweep on a translucent powder.

This is a more dramatic version of look 5. This would be ideal for the evening at a wedding and you could quickly go from your day time gold liner (Look 5) to this version. For this look it's best to do your eyes first and then apply the rest of the makeup.

Using your fingers apply a neutral eye primer with a slight iridescent shimmer over your eyelid. I used MAC paint pot in Bare Study.Then I swept a taupe eyeshadow into the socket line using a fluffy eyeshadow brush.
Using a gold crèmeeyeshadow and an angled eyeliner brush draw a winged liner on your eye. Start by drawing a thin line along your upper lashline from the inner corner of your eye to the outer corner. At the outer corner draw a thin diagonal line out to create a wing. If you like you can position a little bit of masking tape on your skin to create your diagonal line. This will also help you to draw a straight line on your wing.
Then slowly draw over your lashline again, building and thickening the line gradually until it eventually meets the tip of the wing. The line should be approximately a 45 degree angle from the inner corner of your eye to the tip of the wing.
Using your angledeyeshadow brush, apply a gold pigment powder over your golden eyeliner wing. This will add depth and strength to the colour.
Using a brush gently add eyelash glue over yourgold eyeliner.
Use a clean brush to apply a coarse gold glitter all over the glue. You may want to use disposable lip brushes to apply the glue and glitter. You can pick these up in most hairdressing supply shops.
Once the glue and glitter has set, clean your angled eyeliner brush and using a waterproof black gel eyeliner and draw a line really close to your upper lashesout to the tip of your gold wing. This will add depth and a bit of drama.
Sweep on some black mascara and add a set of false lashes. For extra definition add a few single lashes to the outside of your lower lash line.
Remove any stray glitter from the rest of your face with a gentle and non-oily cleanser. Then apply a primer to your face. I used a foundation brush to apply a mixture of MAC face and body foundation and MAC studio sculpt foundation. Applyconcealer to cover any blemishes or dark circles under the eyes.
Sweep a matt bronzer under yourcheek bones to contour, starting at your ear and working downwards. Then brush on a peachy blusher to the apples of your cheeks. Using your fingers dab a crème highlighter in a 'C' shape from your temple down on to your cheek.
Finish with a sweep of your favourite peachy lipstick and some clearlip gloss.

This is a really understated and natural look, which can add a subtle sparkle to your big day. The secret to this look is to create really natural, flawless looking skin that lets your lips do the talking.

Your lips need to be in great condition for this look so start byexfoliating your lips with a lip scrub then apply a moisturising lip balm.

If your skin tends to get a bit shiny gently sweep on a translucent powder.

Sweep on a few coats of mascara to your upper and lower lashes.
Fill in any gaps in your brows with an eyebrow pencil. Go for the lightest shade you can for your brow colour. Remember to keep your brows very natural.
Sweep a taupe powder under yourcheek bones to contour and then add a soft neutral pink blusher over your cheeks.
Usingyour finger dab on a corally pink lipstick. Using your finger means the colour means you can add a pop of colour without it being too overpowering.
Then in a small dish mix a clearlip-gloss with some glitter and apply it to your lips. I used pink, blue, white and mauve shades.
Pop the left over glitter gloss in a small pot and pop it in your handbag for touch ups.

White Netting: John Lewis

This is a bolder version of look 3 (glitter lips). It's still understated and natural but with more attention on the lips.

Pop the left over glitter gloss in a small pot and pop it in your handbag for touch upsalong with your glitter/sequins
