Epic Traditional Moroccan Wedding in Casablanca

Epic Traditional Moroccan Wedding in Casablanca

via

We love a lot of things about our jobs, but one of them has to be getting an up-close look at wedding customs, traditions and ceremonies from around the world.

Yesterday we swooned over Leïla and Arnauld's cool, fun, and casual civil wedding in Paris, and today we're sharing an entirely different side to their celebrations. Their traditional Moroccan wedding in sun-soaked Casablanca - captured once again, by the fabulous Claire Eliza Photography.

And it's pretty epic.

Several ceremonies, lots of outfit changes, and the most incredible Arabian nights theme, their destination wedding was a spectacular affair.

Rich hues, luxe golds and plush textures created the perfect backdrop for their friends to lap up the typical Moroccan experience, with traditional attire, regional fare, local customs and their very own wedding henna tattoos.

But of course, this cool, fun couple still capped the festivities off with gorgeous style and lots of dancing. I thought Irish weddings were fun, but Leïla and Arnauld's Casablanca bash takes partying to a whole other realm...

Our Wedding in Three Words

Culture. Tradition. Sharing

The Photography

Claire is a unique person, she is more than a photographer, she is also a strong listener when the bride is about to break down, and a hair and make up stylist when the bride is seriously doubting 10 min before the big start. She knows how to capture the joy and happiness of the moment, because she truly loves what she does. When you meet her you literally just stop seeing other photographers. You just know she is the right one!

Favourite Moments

When my husband arrived behind me (I was not able to see him at first) on a white horse the night of the Henne traditional ceremony. That was a surprise made by my mum. She whispered in my ear "Turn around slowly and look at your charming prince." That was the most magical moment of my life.

The Decor & Details

The theme was based on Tales from a Thousand and One Nights. The style was Marrakech souk, all the items, centerpieces, gifts and decorations were from there. The decoration was done by Maev, with oriental and warm colors typical of Morocco, with olive trees everywhere, oriental candles, and Berber rugs on the floor.

The Refreshments

We drank traditional juices from Morocco like almond and avocado milk juices and ate from a typical Moroccan BBQ with stones and wood. Moroccan salads (aubergine caviar, carrot, lemon and coriander salad etc), Pastilla (fish or meat) Tajine, almonds , dates, apricots and oriental pastries and mint tea. There was milk and dates for the guests on their first entry.

Such an extravaganza, miles away from drinking Champagne in Paris, but both celebrations seem so authentically them, don't you think?

Thanks once again to Claire Eliza and of course, to Leïla and Arnauld for sharing their Moroccan wedding. Don't forget to take a look at their too cool civil wedding in Paris as well.
