The One Thing That Can Ruin Your WHOLE Look

The One Thing That Can Ruin Your WHOLE Look

via

You spent all morning perfecting your makeup, picking out the cutest, little, white summer dress and making sure your beach waves are on point. You spritz your floral perfume, slip into your sandals, take a quick peek in the mirror, Did you forget something? Something so horrible that it could literally ruin your WHOLE look? Look down at your feet for a second - did we catch you unprepared? Is your nail polish chipped to the point of no return? Are your heels dry, dirty and cracked? Here's what you need to do so that your feet look just as good as the rest of you!

1. Soak feet in lukewarm water for 15 minutes. This will allow the rough skin to soften, so that it can be easily scrubbed away. You can either use a footbath or just allow your feet to soak while you shower. For extra refreshment and a fizzy, cooling sensation, try The Body Shop Peppermint Reviving Foot Soak during your soak to also draw out impurities.

2. Use a pumice stone to slough away rough, cracked skin around heels.
The rough skin around your heels needs a good scrubbin'! Now that your skin has had time to soften during your soak, you can use a pumice stone like The Body Shop No More Rough Stuff Pumice or a paddle file like The Body Shop Wooden Foot File to exfoliate the coarse, abrasive skin that likes to form during barefoot and flip-flop season!

3. A foot scrub will exfoliate to soften and smooth out dryness.
So, you've focused all of your attention on the driest parts, but now it's time to give your whole foot (toes and all!) a gentle scrub to remove any dirt and impurities left behind. Try Kiehl's Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub and pair it with exfoliating bath gloves for an extra soft and smooth feel!

4. Lock in moisture overnight with an intensive hydrating lotion.
Once you've dried your feet off, seal in all of your hard work by applying a thick layer of body lotion before bed (we love La Roche-Posay Lipikar Body Milk) and then put on a pair of socks to seal in moisture overnight. By morning your feet will be summer (and sandal) ready. Just follow these steps every two weeks to put your best foot forward!
