Sweet Southern Barn Wedding :: Jordan & Jonathan

Sweet Southern Barn Wedding :: Jordan & Jonathan

via

With a focus on faith, family and the country they love so much, Jordan & Jonathan they pulled together plenty of lovely details that made their day truly theirs. From the bride's preppy striped gown, to hay bales topped with hand-stitched blankets for guests to sit on during the ceremony, to the American flags that honored wedding party members of the Air Force, this was Americana done right - and is just as sweet as pumpkin pie!

It was important to Jordan that her wedding follow tradition, one of which was her 'something borrowed' - this pretty ribbon-edged tulle veil from her groom's cousin.

The soft gray-green of the bridesmaids' J. Crew dresses makes the bright fuchsia roses in their bouquets really pop.

The couple's Golden Retriever, Moose, shared their day with them - all dressed up in his mint and white bow tie!

The Ceremony

Why did you choose this location for your ceremony? How could we not? This was the first place Jonathon whispered, "I love you" in my ear. We are the third couple in the family to get married here. We love this sweet family tradition!

Get your tissues ready for when you hear who walked the bride down the aisle: "I was told that my brother would not be attending our wedding due to deployment orders from the Air Force. This was devastating, as there was nothing we could to by this point - save the dates were sent, vendors booked and deposits paid. After saying goodbye to my brother one last time before he deployed, we prayed for a miracle. The Thursday before the wedding was a hard day. It was our final day to prep the barn, family and friends would arrive... but my big brother was missing.

That night we headed to an old pizza parlor in Peachtree City for all our family to eat together. We had greeted everyone and were about to sit down when someone cried out, "oh my gosh!" I looked up - and there was Captain Jared Marcus Jaime, Combat Rescue Officer - my big brother! Everything was now perfect - my brother was there to see me marry the man of my dreams!"

How did you go about planning your ceremony? We simply wanted Jesus to be honored and glorified in every moment. We chose a simple décor with hay bales covered in family quilts, and a homemade branch alter covered in greenery.

Who officiated your ceremony? How did you choose him/her? Pastor Jon Bennett, Jonathan's cousin. We loved the idea of a member of our very own family bringing us together before the Lord.

Says Jordan, "we wanted our first act as a married couple to have communion with our immediate family. What a special moment it was!"

How great is this bride's advice to other couples planning their own weddings? "Don't allow your wedding day to consume your conversation and lives! Enjoy being engaged! Date, be silly and count down the days until you really get to spend forever with your person! This season is just so sweet and goes by fast, don't take it for granted!"

The Reception

How would you describe your reception? All-American, mixed with southern charm!

Simple table decor of greenery and white candlesticks suits the laid-back barn, but is still perfect for such a special occasion.

White calligraphy used for the seating chart, place cards and table numbers is a soft, pretty touch.

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? We wanted to stay true to who we are and what we love. We wanted to drown in greenery with touches of pinks that popped, be swept away by the romance of candlelight and be amazed by a big ol' American Flag on the wall - which is our national symbol, and stands for strength and unity. It was the perfect piece to symbolize our family and what we want our marriage to represent as an Air Force family.

Are there any DIY details you'd like to tell us about? All our tables, benches, bars were handcrafted by our very own family!

This pair chose a super sweet - and funny! - number for their first dance: Adam Sandler's Wanna Grow Old With You from The Wedding Singer.

If you had it to do over again, is there anything you would do differently? Gosh, nothing! It was everything I dreamed and then some!
