Marquee Lights and Theater Wedding Details

Marquee Lights and Theater Wedding Details

via

Want the bright lights of Broadway at your wedding? These wedding details evoke all sorts of theater-related memories, from the first time you saw Phantom of the Opera in New York to weekends at the multiplex watching the latest teen idols with your besties.

Even if you can't have your wedding at an actual theater, you can often rent out a local marquee to give the deets for your save-the-date or just for one really epic photo (above).

But keep in mind that if there is a historic theater in your area, they might just do weddings (your town is probably full of unusual venues you haven't yet considered). Nothing like rows of red velvet seats for your guests to know they are about to watch a pretty great love story unfold (below). If you are planning a movie-inspired affair, don't stop at these cute ticket stub wedding invites (above), you should also fill your registry with flicks that aren't in your home collection. It will be the most fun any of your friends have ever had shopping off a registry list.

Marquee-inspired lighting is a huge trend right now. Incorporate it into your modern altar (above) or light up your reception with your monogram (below).

And don't forget a handy arrow (below) to light the way to the dance floor!

Don't have the budget for these vintage lights? Whip up your own version with string lights and wire, or just tie the lights around existing signs. This couple above wanted to make sure their wedding photos boasted their hometown pride by putting "Chicago" in lights.

Of course, the most important detail in a theater wedding is the cool snacks. To keep the party going, serve cups of popcorn and movie theater candies halfway through the night. Because, seriously, who has ever turned away a box of Junior Mints?
