Pretty Pink Shabby Chic Barn Wedding - Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Summer days are so close now and they just don't get better than this.

Emily and Ben tied the knot on Friday 25th July 2014 at Notley Tythe Barn in Oxfordshire. If you are lover of all things pretty and pink, be sure to get your pin fingers at the ready.

This couple crafted up a storm, with shabby chic details set alongside divine Peonies and stylish attire. The whole day looked gorgeous.

Thanks so much to the brilliant Verman Photography for sharing these images with us this morning.

THE PROPOSAL | Over dinner with my 3 month old daughter and the ring of my dreams! Not majorly romantic but personal, he made Annabelle hold the ring in her hands it was very sweet.

THE VISION | I wanted a vintage shabby chic theme, with soft pinks, creams, whites and greens, we wanted a barn setting something very English and laid back, a day that everyone could enjoy and feel relaxed and just have a great day. Great food was a big key!! As well as a good evening reception!

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Naturally being the bride I took over haha! It took me almost 2 years to plan our day; I wanted to make sure everything was perfect even down to the teeny tiny details that no one else except me would probably notice! We started with finding a venue, which was harder than we first imagined, and then my dress of course came next and then everything else just kind of followed! Even up until the day before when we set everything up I was making changes and adding things!

BUDGET | Our budget was 15K for the entire thing.

THE VENUE | Notley Tythe Barn, Thame, Oxfordshire the most beautiful barn with the most amazing chef ever Petr! All the food comes straight from the farm and is always cooked fresh.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was actually from my local boutique wedding dress shop, Anne's Bridal. I wanted to try and use local suppliers for almost everything.

FINDING THE DRESS | I had tried on a few dresses but had a certain idea in my mind of what I wanted princess style, lace, cap sleeves, sweetheart neckline, lace up back, I went along to my local boutique and this was actually the second dress I tried on, I knew as soon as I tried it on It was the one I didn't want to take it off! I tried on about 12 other dresses after "the one" but ended up putting my dress back on and falling in love with it, I bought it straight away and didn't try on another single dress! All of my jewellery was from Glitzy Secrets an amazing website for wedding/costume jewellery. My tiara and veil was actually second hand locally it was a Halo and Co and would have been out of my price range brand new and the lady I bought it off is still a friend now. After the wedding day I sent her pictures of me wearing the veil and tiara she was overjoyed that even though she had struggled to part with them that the person who had purchased them loved them and treasured them as much as she did.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | We decided on a grey suit with white piping and bow ties, which I loved! They were a olive green with cream spots they were gorgeous from Swagger and Swoon and the groom wore a few extras that were different from the groomsmen, he wore a light blue shirt instead of a white and he also had a matching waist coat.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We wanted the wedding to be laid back and not too long it was a civil ceremony so we didn't have any readings, the registrar Julia was amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better and more suited registrar she even got my daughter involved when she decided to come sit on my lap half way through the ceremony!! I walked down the aisle to how long will I love you by Ellie Goulding, it was a great track that really had meaning to our love and also wasn't too long or to short. It was delicate and sounded great in the barn.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | We wanted the bridesmaids to feel comfortable in their dresses and also to be able to potentially wear them again! For me there was nothing worse than having a bridesmaid dress sitting in your closet collecting dust! We decided it would be knee length and a soft pink colour preferably has some lace tied into it. We found the perfect dresses in the most unlikely place at quiz.com they were knee length and a soft pink with lace overlays and beautiful sweetheart necklines with pearl detailing! They could be worn again easily for another wedding or summer party with flip-flops or dressed up so meant they wouldn't sit in their wardrobes! I had 4 bridesmaids so it was also about finding something everyone would love! But we did and the dresses were a hit the girls were comfortable all day even though I was 28 degrees!!! A lot more comfortable than me haha!

THE FLOWERS | Gingerlily was my florist, a local florist who works from home, I originally went to see her 1 year before my wedding to discuss plans etc. I came armed with a million pictures and cut outs and colour swatches etc.! I think she was a bit overwhelmed, but she took my vision and by the time it was 6 months before she had my theme and my flowers down to a T. They were beautiful, I was always adamant that I wanted peonies in my bouquets as they are my favourite flower but getting married in late July meant this was difficult to predict. She made sure I had my peonies and my flowers were truly stunning throughout the venue. I had lots of jars/teacups and teapots scattered around the venue all with single roses or hydrangea heads and then the big table centres in big round footed bowls filled to the brim with roses and hydrangeas.

THE CAKE | Karenanna Cakes was my cake maker, she was again a local supplier who worked from home, we wanted a English tea party feel to the cake table, neither of us are fans of real wedding cake so we opted from lots of different things we had cupcakes, cake pops, and biscuits, some wrapped so people could take them away some ready to eat right away. It was all laid out on beautiful cake stands and displayed around the flowers that Rebecca did from Gingerlily all tying in with our vintage shabby chic theme.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Our photographers were Verman Photography, again a local business. We had some wonderful engagement shots taken prior to the wedding fitting in with our English vintage theme in a field with lots of rapeseed and hay bales they were gorgeous. They took some gorgeous shots at our wedding we had some very specific things we wanted like the sparkler shorts and also we had hired a VW beetle and a VW campervan to take the bridesmaids and me to the venue, they embraced our theme even on the 28 degree heat day! They were fantastic at making people feel at ease and got some great shots of people just mingling around and chatting and enjoying themselves, as well as some of my favourite shots of us girls getting ready in the chaos of our home!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | The beautiful barn has some much space and room to fill it was so hard to make sure I had enough décor! We opted for bunting lots of it!! I also had some special Mr and Mrs Keegan bunting and ring cushion made by a local lady called heartfelt handmade, we also hung tissue pom poms and lanterns from the beams of the barn to really add a wow factor. We had lots of little details like lace tablecloths, I had spent the last 2 years collecting 70 trios of vintage china so each person had their own individual china trio, as well as the decorated jars and teapots dotted around with flowers. The barn was one big room so we got married and ate in the same room, to stop people seeing the tables and flowers before eating and turning around and seeing me walking through tables me and my now husband built some room dividers and wallpapered them with shabby chic wallpaper so that these could be opened and then I could walk through and closed behind me. These was great as it meant there was a element of surprise when these were taken away and the tables moved to there places after being on the lawn for pimms and canapés it meant people where really wowed by the change.

THE HONEYMOON | We went to New York for 7 nights for our honeymoon!! It was great!! We stayed at Park Lane Hotel in a massive suite and it was fabulous! We did lots and lots of shopping my fave thing to do! And lots of sight seeing! It was a great honeymoon and the weather was gorgeous!! We wanted to do something that we would remember and cherish we had already been to the Maldives and although a nice relaxing beach holiday is great we decided we wanted to really have great crazy fun filled memories and go to the big apple instead!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | WOW! There was so many!! Every single part of our day felt like a dream came true everything went smoothly and nothing wasn't exactly how we had envisioned it. The sparklers at the end of the night where lovely, and I also think the evening reception was a lot of fun we had a great DJ who just kept playing the greatest mixture of songs for all ages!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | If there is something in particular that you want on your day but its out of the budget look again, maybe do it yourself if its possible or make something similar, I made and did a lot of things myself to save money which meant I could spend on the things that were most important like my dress, flowers, cake, photographer and the all important food!
