New York Fashion Week Spring 2016

Whether or not your bags are packed and your aisle seat is confirmed, you probably can't wait for Fashion Week to begin. This is, after all, our Olympics. And thanks to everyone's BFF (The Internet), you're good to go even if you're staying at home. While we'll be on the ground and reporting on the runway, the street and more in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, we put together this guide on doing Fashion Week right no matter where you are.

We'll start where it all starts every season: New York Fashion Week.

All images by Jessica Carter for the Thread from Fall Fashion Week 2015 Here's how and where to log on, tune in and keep up with all the action. 1. Bookmark the Industry's Calendars

The IMG/CFDA New York Fashion Week master schedule is the best place to find out who's showing and when. We recommend you take a stroll through the line-up now and make notes about your favorite designers' shows in your own calendar because why not start Friday morning knowing that Jason Wu is presenting his spring looks at 11a.m. New York time? In fact, why not wear to the office that day - just as you would if you were headed for his front row?

Depending on exactly how prepared you want to be, you may want to visit the schedules for London (which begins 9/18), Milan (kicking off 9/23), and Paris (9/29 through 10/6) so you can start mapping out your whole month.

2. Get Acquainted with Nordstrom's Calendars

Here's how it works for us: we spend each day on the ground trend-spotting, reporting and mixing it up with friends old and new, and then we get all that style news you can use downloaded for you on The Tread, our fashion and style blog and our Designer Collections Fashion Week Hub. You can expect to find our insight on the parties, the street style and the shows that matter most to us within 24 hours-seven days a week. So that Jason Wu show on Friday? Check back with us on Saturday. We'll fill you in.

Keep an eye out for our wildly popular and totally shoppable Street Style posts and our super-fun Scene Snaps, and check in for our daily Runway Recaps and our every-few-days-or-so Trend Recaps. And visit us every day throughout the day for my Fashion Week Journal posts, in which all manner of cool people, places, and backstage vantage points are served up front-and-center in the form of sound bites, interviews, videos, GIFs and who knows what else.

Case in point: fashion's It-girl on the decks at the Standard during last season's shows.

And when all that has you all inspired, check in with our Designer Collections homebase as we compile buy-now curations of the hottest trends and best looks.

By which we mean follow along in real time, too. Nordstrom's official social media channels are completely dialed in for this month-long festival of Fashion Weeks, but you'll probably find our Instagram and Pinterest feeds the most, well, visually stimulating.

If you're not already doing so, you should definitely be following our director of special projects, Olivia Kim. Her Instagram yields a true inside look at how buyers, curators, and the creative elite traverse the landscape-especially now that SPACE has launched and Olivia's out there on a mission. I like to think my Instagram feed is pretty good this time of year, too. I'd love to see you in the mix.

Even when Fashion Week is a job, it's an exciting job. So when you're doing Fashion Week for fun, you should definitely have a really good time with it.

Get a gang together and hit our reviews and interviews, and then line up the dining chairs in runway formation and watch the full-length presentation videos that the newly revamped Vogue.com is issuing.

Not in New York? What would make you feel as if you are? A bagel with lox for breakfast and some blog posts? A Little Italy-inspired pasta and bruschetta dinner and some Frank Sinatra? Or Lady Gaga? We hope to inspire you where cities and culture are concerned, too; a big part of our Fashion Week Journal coverage is the world surrounding the shows. Where do designers imbibe after the big event? What do fashion bloggers wear in Milan?

It's all part of our experience-make it part of yours, too.
